The Reedley College Black Faculty & Staff Association took seven students to the 16th annual African American Male Education Network and Development (A2MEND) Summit in Los Angeles March 2-3. The goal of the conference is to bring together Black male college students and educators to encourage and find innovative ideas to increase the success of Black male students in California’s community college system. Association President Dr. Samuel Morgan recommended Dallas Parker of our football team for the scholarship offered through the A2MEND charter and was awarded $750. Dallas is also the president of our local charter on campus. All of the students enjoyed the opportunity and had enriching conversations with our staff related to race and diversity on our campus. They also went to the beach before leaving Southern California to cap off a successful trip. Much thanks to everyone who created this opportunity for our students. We’re already looking forward to next year!
