Former Reedley College Student, Officer Gonzalo Carrasco of the Selma Police Department, dedicated his life to protecting his community. On January 31, he paid the ultimate sacrifice serving and defending others. Our Reedley College family is invited to pay respects to Officer Carrasco together at noon this Thursday, February 16th. A large procession of officers will escort Officer Carrasco from the Selland Arena Convention Center in Fresno where his funeral service will take place to the Reedley Cemetery for the graveside internment. To encourage our campus community to participate, we recommend postponing any scheduled meetings or appointments during the noon hour.
Please join us in lining Reed Avenue to show your support for Officer Carrasco and his family. The Reedley Police Department estimates the procession to last 45 minutes to an hour.
The Fresno County Deputy Sheriff’s Association is supporting the Selma Police Officer’s Association by establishing a memorial fund in which all donations will be given to Officer Carrasco’s family. Please send contributions to:

PLEASE NOTE: All Reed Avenue entrances and exits will be closed to vehicular traffic at approximately 12:00 p.m. and will remain closed until approximately 1:30 p.m. An alternate route (see map) has been established for anyone who needs to leave the campus during the procession that will allow you to exit onto Manning Avenue. Volunteers will help direct traffic from the north end of the campus to the south end and detour signage will be posted.
