Fall 2020 Semester

Jun 10, 2020

Reedley College Students,

As you know, Reedley College has been directed to offer courses mostly online for the fall 2020 semester. We have identified courses that can be effectively offered online and are implementing safety measures for those that will remain on campus. Student safety was our first priority in making these decisions.

What will the fall 2020 semester look like?

Almost all of our courses that incorporate labs and most of our CTE programs will retain a face-to-face portion, with appropriate personal protection and social distancing.  Most of our lecture-based courses will be switched to online offerings. The schedule changes will be made gradually over the next two weeks.  The schedule changes will not impact your registration. If the course you are enrolled in converts to online or hybrid, you will not have to take any action to remain enrolled.

What should students do now?

We ask that you go into WebAdvisor over the next several days to stay informed about any schedule changes and to confirm you are still enrolled in all of your fall 2020 courses. If you’ve not yet registered for fall 2020, please make an appointment with a counselor (559-638-0337) to help identify classes, update your SEP, or review your status at the end of the spring semester.

How can students prepare to learn online?

Some of your classes may be shifted online. We know that many of you would prefer face-to-face courses and that you may be uncertain about online education. We are offering a series of support workshops to demonstrate what online courses might look like and to help you prepare for an online education. The days and times for these workshops will be announced shortly through a variety of channels and posted on the college website.

Where can students go for help or support?

Some of you may want to contact the course instructor about the format and plans for your online course.  Start here to find your instructors’ email (listed by Academic Divisions and Departments).  Some of you may want to speak to a counselor about your course selection and course load now that course offerings are clearer. Please contact counseling at 559-638-0337 or counseling@reedleycollege.edu to set up an appointment.

Reedley College is doing everything we can to support students in fall 2020. Tutoring, counseling, and other student supports will continue to be available for all students. Online access to all services is being enhanced and the college has laptops and WiFi hotspots available for loan at no cost to students. Instructors and support staff continue to participate in distance education training to ensure that those teaching and working online optimize their effectiveness.

We are in this together!

While the fall semester may not look like what you are used to or what you had planned, we are in this together! Reedley College is a great choice for your college career, and together, we can help you reach your educational and career goals. Please feel free to contact us with questions. Student support service offices will be open all summer, and you can get answers to your questions online Monday through Thursday 8 am to 8 pm at the Online Information Center.
