Self-Guided Tour Stops
Pete P. Peters Theatre
As the heartbeat of this beautiful facility, the Pete P. Peters Theater comfortably seats 508 people, and is designed to provide first-class performances that will provide audiences with memorable experiences for decades to come. Louvered panels made of natural wood artfully hide a mix of acoustical systems along the side walls. A state-of-the-art sound amplification and effects system will contribute to an already extraordinary audio experience. This space will support student musical performances, special campus events, and allow the College to host performances from across the country and around the globe.
Main Lobby
The first impression guests will enjoy is right through the main doors to the spacious lobby area. Complete with a concessions stand, box office, video screens, restrooms, and seating areas, this space will also be used as a reception location before the start of performances and events. The stone fruit tree design imbedded in the wood-covered walls is a tribute to the Central Valley’s rich agriculture history.
The River Art Gallery
Reedley College art students will have the opportunity to showcase their original art pieces in this space, as well as host exhibitions to describe their work. The gallery will also be open to our instructors and community artists to display their masterpieces as well. The room is equipped with lighting specifically designed to showcase every piece inside the space. At the entrance to the gallery from the main lobby is “The Great Central Valley of California” plein air painting created by local artist Paul Buxman, who received his first formal art training at Reedley College in 1956.
Donor Recognition Wall
Construction of the McClarty Center for Fine and Performing Arts would not have been completed without the generous financial support of our many donors, who are recognized on this space located in the lobby adjacent to the concession stand and box office. The McClarty and Reed families are also showcased on this display, in appreciation for providing the vision for the land our campus resides on, as well as their continued contributions that will endure for generations to come.
Green Room
Performers and special guests will enjoy this area to relax before and after events. The room features ample seating spaces, video screens, two makeup/dressing rooms, food storage cabinetry and kitchen appliances. It can also be used as a meeting space for the campus and community.
Sculpture Garden
Additional art appreciation will be located in this space as a future outdoor phase of development for our facility. Future works of art will decorate the south side of the building, and will be open to students and community members who would like to showcase their work in the space. A water feature is also part of the planning stages of the garden, as well as fencing and a shade structure to protect the pieces.
Palm Tree
The exact location of the McClarty Center for Fine and Performing Arts is significant, because it rests on the original site of the Reed family homestead and ranch headquarters. The Canary Island Date Palm Tree that stands in front of our facility was planted by the Reed family and is a living monument that has withstood the test of time. The tree is one of the City of Reedley’s landmarks, much like the crown jewel it now proudly protects.
Would you like to financially support further projects for the McClarty Center for Fine and Performing Arts, which includes the sculpture garden, seat naming, or to make a general contribution?
