The fast-growing heavy equipment industry offers excellent career opportunities for qualified entry-level technicians. The Equipment Service Technician Program at Reedley College is designed to meet industry-specific requirements. The program proudly places 90% of graduates.
The Equipment Service Technician Program is sponsored and supported by Quinn Company, the Caterpillar dealer for the Central Valley and Los Angeles areas. You'll work on Cat engines, transmissions, hydraulic and electrical systems, and Cat machines. Reedley College has state-of-the-art labs and diagnostic equipment patterned after dealer shops. Following AED guidelines, factory-trained instructors will help you develop the skills necessary for a job in the equipment industry.

The CAT® Scholars program is funded by Quinn Company and Caterpillar® and covers both A.S. Degree and Certificate programs.
Up to $500 per semester is available for degree candidates who meet minimum requirements and are sponsored by a Quinn branch store. Tool grants are also available to sponsored students, subject to full time employment by Quinn Company following graduation.
Up to $250 per semester is available for certificate candidates. Minimum requirements must be met to qualify. Many other scholarships and grants are available through the college and/or participating businesses and organizations. Recent and on-going changes in technology have intensified the demand for technicians in all phases of the heavy equipment industry. A recent study identified shortages of over 6,000 technician positions among equipment dealers nationwide. Career opportunities are available in construction, agriculture, trucking, mining, waste processing, forestry, marine and industrial engines, and material handling.
Upon graduation, expect to earn in excess of $20,000. Many companies offer comprehensive benefit programs in addition to your base salary. Depending upon company location, your skill level and time in grade, your earnings potential can reach $60,000 to $90,000 or more.
