Choinumni Monument
Reedley College is deeply committed to honoring the land of the indigenous people within our region. We recognize and respect the rich histories and cultures of the Native American tribes who have called this area home for generations. Our college plays a crucial role in raising awareness of Native American culture and histories, and we are dedicated to creating opportunities for Native American students to succeed.
In our ongoing efforts to honor the indigenous heritage of our region, we are working to build a monument in tribute to the local tribes. We encourage our community to join us in this endeavor by donating to support the creation of this monument. Your contributions will help us recognize and preserve the legacy of the indigenous people who have shaped our community.
Together, we can honor the past and build a future that respects and celebrates the diverse cultures that enrich our college and community.
Please consider donating towards the building of Choinumni Monument at Reedley College.
Native American Heritage Month Celebration
Join Us in Celebrating Native American Heritage Month and Monument Dedication
Reedley College invites you to join us in celebrating Native American Heritage Month with a special event on November 2, 2024. This celebration is an opportunity to honor the rich histories and cultures of Native American communities. The event will feature cultural performances, educational presentations, and the unveiling of the plans for a monument dedicated to the indigenous people of our region. While the monument is not yet created, this event marks the beginning of our journey to bring this tribute to life.
We encourage everyone to attend and show their support for the Native American community. Your presence will help us recognize and celebrate the invaluable contributions of the local Native tribes.

This site is dedicated to honoring the land and the ongoing relationship
between Reedley College and the indigenous people of this region.
As a symbol of this relationship, we offer the following land
acknowledgement:
"Reedley College gratefully acknowledges that we work and educate our students on the
homeland of the Choinumni people. We value their diverse culture and seek to honor the
vibrant native communities that still make their home here today. It is our hope to engage,
inspire, challenge and support each other for many generations to come."
