100 Years of Reedley College

1926

Reedley College was established

Reedley Junior College, started with 30 students and six courses on September 20^th, 1926.

1936

Reedley College Builds on RHS Campus

In 1936, a separate building on the Reedley High School campus was built to house the junior college administration and provide additional classrooms.

1946

Total Community College

On July 1, 1946, the college recognized its role as a total community college.

1947-49

Plan to Expand

By the late 1940s the governing board decided the time was right for the college to develop a separate campus and a separate identity.

1954

Purchasing the T.L. Reed Ranch

In 1954, voters of the high school district overwhelmingly passed a bond issue to purchase the site of the historic T. L. Reed Ranch for a permanent campus.

1956

Moving Day

In September 1956, the college moved to its present site where it has continued to grow and expand. It now encompasses 420 acres, including the school's 300 acre farm adjacent to the main campus.

1963

State Center Community College District

In 1963, Reedley College became a member of the State Center Community College District, combining the resources of two of the oldest community colleges in the state.

1980

Kings River Community College

Reflecting the expanded area covered by the influence of the college, Reedley College officially became Kings River Community College in 1980.

1998

Reedley College Name Restored

In accordance with the surrounding communities' wishes, the name Reedley College was restored in July, 1998.

2001

Over 11,000 Students Enrolled

By fall 2001, over 11,147 students were enrolled, with programs offering associate degrees, transfer programs, and career training.

2002-2009

Reedley College Expands

In November 2002 Valley voters approved Measure E, State Center Community College District’s capital improvement bond. With the help of Measure E, Reedley College was able to build three new buildings on campus including CCI(2006), the Student Center(2008), the Residence Hall(2009), and an expansion to the Library.

2016-2025

Reedley College Continues to Grow

In June 2016 Valley voters approved Measure C, State Center Community College’s capital improvement bond. Funds from Measure C continue to nurture the growth of Reedley College with three new projects: Ag Complex Modernization & Addition, RC Math, Science & Engineering Building (MSE), RC Center for Fine & Performing Arts.

100^th Anniversary Fall Harvest Festival
