HBCUs have historically been a place for African Americans to learn, thrive, and prosper. It continues to serve that purpose for so many who attend. Although it has historically served the higher education needs of African Americans, HBCUs campuses are welcoming to ALL ethnicities and you find many of them very diverse.

Transfer at a Glance
- Guaranteed Admission to 37 participating Historically Black Colleges and Universities
- Priority consideration for housing
- Pre-admission advising
- Acceptance of completed transfer credit
- Apply up to 4 colleges and/or universities for free
- Several HBCUs provide in-state tuition for California community college students
Program Eligibility
Students must meet the following eligibility requirements
- Attend a CA Community College
- Complete 30 transferable UC/CSU credits
- 2.5 GPA or higher
OR
- Complete transfer-level associate degree (60 credits +) at a
- CA Community College
- 2.5 GPA or higher
- Must Complete Intersegmental General Education Transfer
- Curriculum (IGETC) or the California State University General
- Education Breadth (CSU GE)

- Ask questions
- Attend HBCU events
- Develop a Student Education Plan
- Meet with a counselor regularly
- Complete student verification with counselor
- Receive fee waiver when ready to apply for transfer
