The Reedley College Child Development Center is now a certified Nature Explore Outdoor Classroom site. It is the only one of its kind between San Francisco and Los Angeles. Now, we are cleared to train our child development lab students on how to use the outdoor classroom space as they would any other classroom space. Early Childhood Educator Shannon Mendietta is becoming a certified trainer so our staff will have the ability to train current teachers and community members. The outdoor facility opened in April of 2017, and gives our educators the opportunity to teach and train future and current teachers on how to use natural spaces with young children. They have hands-on opportunities to explore and manipulate materials that are not often typically found in outdoor preschool spaces.
